The George Penang – Discover the history of old Penang, a Straits Settlement established by Captain Francis Light of the East India Company on behalf of George The Third, British Monarch and Head of the British Empire in the late eighteenth century.
The George is a prominent landmark in George Town, Penang, sitting beautifully at the confluence of the four historical streets in George Town: Penang Road, Leith Street, Chulia Street, and Argyll Road. Throughout history, our hotel’s location has been unique. In the past, it stood majestically as Australian Hotel and Teik Bin Chinese Dispensary.
